Back to the world
After 18 months, about 550 days, I was able to be back to see the world again.
I confess that leaving was once a mixture of anxiety, fear, and a lot of worries.
Arriving in Holland and seeing everyone walking freely without masks was very frightening.
Getting out of the Brazillian situation and getting straight into this post-pandemic world was difficult to lose fear.
Difficult but you can believe that there is a world after the pandemic.
In Netherlands and Germany, the measures were agreed upon and simply not heard of cases and deaths. But they continue with measures such as a mask on public transport, the obligation to show proof of vaccinations and require testing for international travel, and also to enter the interior of bars and restaurants.
In Greece, restrictions are for the use of masks also in stores, but with the peace of mind of being without masks outdoors..
After a few weeks there was talk and an increase in cases, but nothing like in Brazil.
I had to do 3 PCR tests to be able to circulate, I was calm and reassuring, as they all came back negative.
Long live science, vaccine and protective measures.
Eindhoven
It’s not a tourist town and I would probably never go there if it weren’t for my daughter Paola living there.
We arrived in Amsterdam and took the train to the city.
Eindhoven is a city in the south of the Netherlands. Known as a center of technology and design, it is the birthplace of Philips Electronics, which built Philips Stadium, home of the PSV football team.
It is a small city, but with a big city infrastructure and today it has a strong presence of technology companies.
The various cities around have many technology companies and are hiring a lot of people and the economy of the place is very strong.
The quality of life is very good and access to Europe is very easy.
Rotterdam
Another city to visit.
Since 1300, Rotterdam has developed through trade with India and Europe.
The city remains a hub of commerce, vibrant and futuristic architecture like the cubic buildings and the Euromast Tower, Rotterdam seawall etc but it also has a variety of museums, restaurants and activities to enjoy.
As I wanted to see the waters of the North Sea, I went to Hoek van Holland which is a small coastal town just 20 km from Rotterdam.
I took the metro line B in the center (Beur station) and went to Hoek van Holland.
From the station, head towards the beach, passing by the pier (Noorderhoofd) it’s about 2 kilometers.
The waters of the North Sea are turbid and icy, but a beach is a beach, it just depends on where you are.
As it was sunny, although cold, it was very pleasant.
Hoek van Holland
Amsterdam
I already knew Amsterdam from my trip around the world.
But always nice to visit again even though it was raining a bit.
We went to visit the red light district, the cafes, shops, and the flower fair (Bloemenmarkt).
During my time in The Netherland, I went to Dusseldorf and visited the Lindt chocolate factory in Aachen.
After 17 days it’s time to travel to Greece to visit Athens and Santorini.
