My trip to India.

I did in my india trip the tour, Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur).  I visited the main tourist spots like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masid Mosque and Amber Fort.

Eu e o Taj Mahal

This trip to India is part of my travel plans around the world.
Please check how it was here. Following the sun.
Due to the difficulty of time and which way to go, on the trip around the world.
I decided to make India and Nepal separate. I’ll explain better in another post.
First I went to Nepal. Where I did trekking to Everest base camp. I’ll talk about this part of the trip in another post.
Now I will concentrate on the trip to India.
I had a dream of getting to know the Taj Mahal which became one of the 7 wonders of the modern world in 2007.

A little of history about  India

India is a vast South Asian country, from the Himalayan peaks to the Indian Ocean coastline, its history dates back to 5 millennia.
In the north, the Mongol Empire, left us the complex of the Red Fort, the huge Jama Masjid mosque, we also have the wonderful Taj Mahal in Agra.
Pilgrims bath in the Ganges River in Varanasi and Rishikesh which is considered the world capital of yôga, located at the base of the Himalayas.
It has a population of approximately 1.3 billion people. A unique culture and thousands of years of history.
They have a diversity of temples and monuments.
The religions of India are the set of related tra ditions religious such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, as well as Western religions such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
I believe most people have an idea of what happens in India, but I can guarantee that nothing will really prepare you for reality.

Delhi

I arrived in Delhi from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, so I had already an idea of what to expect from India, but even so I was surprised at every step.
First, already at the airport, a surprise. I thought it was an old airport and I found a super modern, like the best in the world.
Then when I went out, I went back to the reality of India, the clash of chaotic traffic.
Everything in India is too much. You have no idea what it really is until you see it by your own eyes.
everything are superlative. It is much more than you can imagine.
I stayed in the Karol Bagh neighborhood, where there are many hotels for foreigners.
I was visiting the Delhi central train station, and the main attractions such as Red Fort, the largest mosque in the country, Jama Masid and the Chandni Chowk market.

How To Understand Delhi

We can share Delhi in part new or old. In the new it is super modern, clean and can be anywhere in the world. It is where the British heritage becomes more present.
Embassies, international organizations and the government of the province or government of India are located.
The old part is where I believe the real Delhi is. I’ll make another post with a more detailed.

How to walk through Delhi
Depends on where you are. The best way and cheaper to get around is by using a rickschaw (tuk tuk). The tuk tuk can be motorized or on the bike. I prefer cycling, because everything goes slower. Another way is to explore on foot, as you will see things you have never seen in your life.

Agra

After several days in Delhi, I decided to follow the path and went to Agra.
On this trip to India, I wanted to get to know the less touristy places so I hired a driver to take me around.
On the way we passed through various cities and temples.
I could see that the traffic in India is really crazy. On the road one can really see the real India.
Although they are in the cities, they raise the cows in their homes. The Indians are using the roads with their most diverse animals.
It’s unbelievable how hardly accidents happen.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal which means “Crown of the Palace” is a white marble mausoleum, on the south bank of the Yamuna River. It was built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned from 1628 to 1658), to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz.
The tomb is the centerpiece of a complex, which includes a mosque and several other buildings.
The Taj Mahal took about 17 years to be build and another 5 years for the other buildings in the complex.
It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983 for being “the jewel of Muslim art in India”, and  being voted one of the 7 wonders of the modern world in 2007.

Besides the Taj Mahal another great attraction is Agra fort.

The Agra fort, also known as Red fort, was built with red sandstone in the 16th century by Akbar.
Later Shah Jahan added more decorations using marbles, built on the banks of the Yamuna River.
At the top is a mosque of precious stones that was built in the seventeenth century. From the corridor, you can see the Taj Mahal.
At the edge of the fort, you can find the octagonal tower in which Shah Jahan was held as a prisoner by his son when he asked that he wanted to spend the rest of his life looking at the Taj Mahal.

Jaipur

To make my trip to India worth I need to visit Jaipur, known as the Pink City, because of the pink walls and buildings of the ancient city.
The most popular attractions and places are the ancient and forts, with an elaborate architecture that serves as a resplendent reminder of their royal heritage.

Amber fort

Imperial palace

Now is time to go back to Delhi and home.
