Indonesia - Bali

Indonesia has thousands of islands and one of the most famous is Bali, it is super touristy but still has many natural places.

The most famous beach is Kuta, however it is very crowded so I decide to stay in Seminyak, which is close but much more peaceful.

With the cyclone arriving in Cairns, I to anticipate my arrival to Bali and what I discovered was that the next day my arrival has the Day of Silence (Nyepi Day), that is, everything closes and nobody can go out on the streets.

I had to buy everything I needed, because the next day we had to stay at the hostel.

If the police catch someone on the street they can arrest you.

So I spent the day on the internet and watching movies on Netflix.

The next day, there was a festival known as Ngembak Geni, several ceremonies take place where relatives and friends ask for forgiveness from each other.

These ceremonies are part of the Balines New Year festivities.

I stayed at Seminyak beach and went to visit Kuta, Padang Padang, Legian Beach, etc.

one of the most interesting things in Indonesia is the amount of temples, there is one every meter.

Its most famous is Uluwatu temple.

After a few days I moved to the interior of the island – Ubud.

Bali - Kuta

Ubu

On the way to Ubud I passed the Tanah lot and Pura Gunung Lebah temple.

Ubud is a very busy city, with lots of bars, many clubs until late, shops and many temples.

One of the most famous places is Monkey forest, it has more than 1200 monkeys.

Around the city there are many temples like, Tirta Empul, Goa Gajah, Gunung Kawi, Pura Taman Saraswati.
Another famous tour is the trek to Mount Batur (Kintamani), which is a volcano. Strong climb but easy.

Then I took a bus to Padang Bai and a boat to Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan

Gili islands are 3 islands between Bali and Lombok.

Gili Trawangan is the most famous because it has many clubs every night and because it is a drug-free place.

Officially marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms are free, no problem with the police.

It is also a famous place for diving schools.

Because it is cheap and easy to go to a dive place. I got advantage and took my diving course.

It is much cheaper than Australia and is at the beginning of my trip to South Asia, where it has the best diving places in the world.

The course lasted a week and then I went to Lombok where I took a boat to Flores.

Travel from Lombok to Komodo Island

One of my goals was to see Komodo dragons.

For that you need to go to the island of Flores, I could take a 1 hour flight but I found a boat that makes the way in 4 days through the islands.

It is a boat without any luxury, without a cabin etc, I was very afraid of the conditions of the trip, but it was an incredible experience.

The boat stops in many islands, I dived in several corals,  swam with the Manta rays, beautiful landscapes and in the end the Komodo dragons.

Now it’s time to take the flight to Jakarta.

Indonesia - Jakarta

Jakarta is simply a mess, a very dirty city, a hellish traffic.

But it has a lot of beauty and civility.

There is a large Istiqlal Mosque, which is the largest in southern Asia and the third largest in the world (in capacity) and across the street the Jakarta (Catholic) Cathedral.

Both work at the same time, always packed and everything is fine.

It is so safe that they exchange money on the street. see the photo.

I would like to visit the Anak Krakatoa volcano, but the logistics will be very complex and I had little time, as I had already booked my ticket to Singapore.

Now it’s a flight to Singapore.
