Flight to Sydney

My journey around the world begins here.

On the trip to Australia, I made a 10 hour connection in Atlanta, in the United States, to buy some equipment, especially a Gopro 5 black (many videos you will see on this site were recorded with it).

As there were still a few hours, I went to lunch at the Red Lobster of Camp Greek Parkway (I recommend).

After shopping, I returned to the airport and embarked for the city of Sydney with a 3-hour stopover in Los Angeles.

The 15 hour flight was very smooth, and this was the longest flight of my entire life (until then it had been 14 hours from São Paulo to Doha, in the United Arab Emirates).

Amazing thing is that just after taking off from LA you only see water. It passes close to Hawaii, but it is very difficult to see.

Sydney

It took me 4 days (1 lost in time zone) to arrive.

This first week I dedicated myself to visit Sydney, which is a very organized city, everything works very well, public transport is excellent, works by appointment.

Although the weather was bad enough, I enjoyed it a lot.

I visited the main atractions, Opera House, Harbor bridge, China town, Fish market, Bondi beach, coral cost walk etc.

I just didn’t go anywhere else because it was raining.

As bad weather and not very good forecast I followed the sun and went to Blue Mountain.

I took the train from Sydney central station to Katoomba station. More information click here.

Blue Mountain

I took the train at 7:00 am in Sydney central station and after 2 hours I arrived in Katoomba.
As Blue Mountain is very big, I took the bus that stops in various places, so you can take more time to explore a lot.
I went to Scenic world and then on several trails passing through Three sister, Eco point, Wentworth track, etc. until I left Leura station.

Forster

The weather was still bad in Sidney so I decided to go further north, as it was sunny.

I decided to visit my friend Rafael, a Brazilian who moved to Australia.

Forster is a very small city.

I took a train from Sydney central station to Broadmeadow station, leaving the station there is a bus stop that goes to Forster.

When I was there they were creating a better stop. I took line 150 (NewCastle to Taree via Forster. It can also be line 151) more information click here.

Forster is one of those cities that is extremely easy to fall in love with.

My special thanks to Rafael and family for giving me the opportunity to get to know this little paradise and for the wonderful reception.

After a few days in the tranquility of Forster I had to continue the journey and I went to Brisbane.

I took a bus from Forster to Taree and where I took the train to Brisbane. More info here.

Brisbane

I arrived in Brisbane very early, left my backpack at the hostel and went to see the city.

The city is halfway between Sydney and Cairns, on the Australia east coast.

Brisbane is super beautiful and inland air although it is a large city with approximately 2.2 million inhabitants.

It has many parks, river etc, but it is much more peaceful than Sydney. I had little time to visit, as for me Brisbane is just the starting point to visit Fiji and go to Cairns, see the coral barrier. The city was pleasantly surprised.

I went to the Fiji Islands and came back.

Now it’s the longest train ride of my life here, it’s 24 hours to Cairns.

Cairns – Barreira de Coral

One of the most famous spots in Australia is the Great barrier reef.

Cairns is a very small city, but it is the starting point for visiting the coral barrier.

I took a boat trip to visit the barrier and dived with a shark. uuuuu what a fear.

I also visited Kuranda, a small town in the mountains near Cairns. My plans were to visit the outback, but it is too far and takes too long.

We received a cyclone alert for the Cairns area so I decided to anticipate my trip to Indonesia.

Kuranda – Uma vila na floresta

Kuranda is a small village set in the middle of mountains and forest.
The best way to get there was via a panoramic train, but I was not lucky because it was undergoing maintenance.

I took a bus and spend the day.

Great village to spend the day and do some trails are of the gourmet type. Everything is very organized and easy.

Wonderful day of good food, good walking and tranquility away from the city.

Now is time to go to Indonesia.
